New Volkswagen Taos

The Brand-New Volkswagen Taos Is Ready to Hit the Road
The demand for small SUVs and crossovers has continued to grow over recent years. Volkswagen has heard the call, and it's developed a brand-new SUV for 2022. The Taos is the smallest SUV in VW's lineup, but it still has plenty of interior room for customers around Arlington, TX to take advantage of. In addition to having an ideal size for many people near Grapevine, it has a high-tech infotainment system and many convenient amenities.
Performance
The Taos uses a new VW engine. It's a 1.5-liter engine with a turbocharger, and it's able to make 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It's similar to the engine found in some previous VW models, but it's a little bigger and a little more powerful. You'll have a choice of either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Front-wheel-drive Taos SUVs use eight-speed automatic transmissions. When all-wheel drive has been installed, there would be a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This transmission can result in more precise shifting.

Technology
Fort Worth customers will be happy to hear that every Taos has smartphone connectivity. The first trim in the lineup, which is the S, has a 6.5-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth. The other two trims, which are the SE and SEL, have eight-inch touchscreens. Those touchscreens come with HD Radio, SiriusXM, and voice control. On the SEL, there's the addition of navigation and a premium sound system. Both of the top two trims have wireless charging and a rear USB charging port. It's standard to have two front USB-C data ports. Having more than one port makes sense because so many of us travel with more than one device.
Interior Design
As we mentioned earlier, the VW Taos is smaller than the other Volkswagen SUVs that we carry at Principle Volkswagen in Irving, TX. That being said, there's no reason to be concerned about passenger comfort. That's because the Taos has a generous amount of second-row leg room. Anyone who rides with you in the back will have almost 38 inches of leg room. There's a sizable cargo space in the back for all of your gear, and of course, you can lower the rear seats to give yourself more storage space.
The seating material ranges from cloth to leather, with the mid-level trim - the SE - having a type of synthetic leather upholstery called CloudTex. Heated front seats are available to keep you more cozy in the winter. Also available are dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, and a power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support.

Safety Features
The VW Taos can be equipped with different types of driver-assist technologies. These systems can continually monitor how things are going, and if any issues arise, they can notify the driver and potentially help correct the situation. For example, lane assist is an available program. It allows the SUV to keep track of where it is in relation to any lane markings on the road. If someone is accidentally veering out of position, they'll be warned, and the vehicle can gently correct its steering to remain in the center of a lane. Other available features are travel assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency assist, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, and front assist. Front assist can really come in handy when driving around Dallas, as it alerts drivers when they're getting too close to objects in front of them and can engage the brakes if necessary.
